A cat in North Quincy has been destroyed after its owner said she found it doused in gasoline.
The Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is investigating..
Heather DeLong said she woke up to find her cat, Gemini, covered with gasoline on her back porch at about 12:30 a.m. Thursday. After several baths, the cat was still in excruciating pain, she said.
Around 2:30 a.m., DeLong and her father brought the cat to the VCA South Shore Animal Hospital in Weymouth. Because of damage to its nervous system, DeLong said, it had to be put to sleep.
