Two Oklahoma City men were arrested last week after a witness reported one of them was beating a dog. Officers found seven other malnourished and injured dogs in their home, according to a police report released today.
Mark Anthony Skinner, 50, remains today in lieu of $5,000 bail at the Oklahoma County jail on multiple complaints, including cruelty to animals, jail records show.
Michael David McBroom, 48, also remains jailed today on multiple complaints, including animal cruelty by unhealthy conditions. His bail information was not available.
A witness told police Skinner was outside his home, 3628 N Pioneer Ave., beating one of his dogs about 5:15 p.m. April 5, the report states. Officers arrived at the house and saw one of the dogs had a swollen face and was wincing.
Skinner stepped inside the house as officers approached, and both he and McBroom ran out the back door, according to the report. Officers tracked them down.
Seven other dogs inside the home showed signs of abuse, and the inside of the residence was covered in beer cans and alcohol bottles, the report states. Officers reported they smelled an "almost unbearable" smell of animal feces while standing in the front doorway.
Animal welfare officers took custody of the dogs, according to the report. References |
