Mohave County Sheriff's deputies are investigating a case of animal cruelty in which dozens of dogs were found dying at a residence in northwest Arizona.
Last Thursday [March 25, 2010] at the request of a concerned citizen, deputies conducted a welfare check and a subsequent warrant at a residence in Golden Valley, Ariz.
At the home of 70-year-old Vernon Victor Williams, deputies found 31 dogs in varying degrees of poor health. Wlliams agreed to relinquish ownership of 27 of the 31 dogs.
Animal control officers transported the 27 dogs to a humane society where it was determined they were in such dire straits they had to be put down.
Williams was arrested and booked into the Mohave County Jail on four counts of animal cruelty and a zoning violation. References« AZ State Animal Cruelty Map « More cases in Mohave County, AZ
