Pinal County officials are looking to find the owner of a black-and-white pit bull mix dog that was found with stab wounds to its neck.
Animal Care and Control Director Ruth Stalter said officials were called last Friday to near Milligan and Overfield roads in Arizona City about a dog that was tied to a tree and had been stabbed.
A Pinal County Sheriff’s Office deputy originally found many pools of blood around the tree along with a knife that could have been used to harm the dog, Stalter said.
Two stab wounds were found on the dog, one under the jaw and another near the jugular vein.
“The dog is doing very well,” Stalter said. “It is a male about 5 months old and he is very friendly. If we do not find the owner soon, we will be placing this dog for adoption.”
The Central Arizona Animal Cruelty Task Force is offering a reward of $250 for any information leading to the arrest and the conviction of any people involved in this crime.
