Abuser names unreleased

Police in Labrador have charged a 52-year-old Cartwright man with animal cruelty.

Officers in the area began investigating the man after a woman reported seeing a medium-sized female dog with an arrow in its hindquarters.

Police say the arrow was described as wooden and homemade-looking.

Officers found the dog and discovered that the device was hand made with wood and a razorblade.

The man’s name can’t be released until after his first court appearance on June 22 in Cartwright.

When he appears he will be formally charged with one count of animal cruelty.
