A City of Poughkeepsie teen appeared in court Monday on an animal cruelty charge for allegedly killing his family’s 6-month-old puppy with a remote control, the Dutchess County SPCA said.
Officials at the SPCA charged the teen with one count of cruelty to an animal, a class A misdemeanor on Feb. 7, Joyce Garrity, executive director of the agency said on Monday.
The teen became upset when his dog, a miniature pincer named “Snoop,” peed on his bed. He chased the dog and threw a remote control, striking the dog in the head, Garrity said.
The blow was strong enough to cause a depression fracture in the dog’s skull, which resulted in the dog’s death, she said. References |
