Illegal trapping reported
Avon, CT (US)

Incident Date: Tuesday, Feb 2, 2010
County: Hartford

Disposition: Alleged

Alleged: Stanislaw Koldziej

Stanislaw Koldziej, 57, of Plainville was charged, in Avon, on February 2, 2010 with illegal trapping. He was spotted carrying trapping material in Avon where snare traps had been set, said Dennis Schain, spokesman for the state Department of Environmental Protection.

Police received a complaint after a man walking his dog got caught in one of the traps. Officers saw Koldziej walking toward them along the Farmington River with more snare and unpadded leghold traps, which are illegal. He was interested in trapping coyotes even though the legal season to trap them ended Jan. 31, 2010, Schain said.
