CONVICTED: Was justice served?
more information on voting
When you vote, you are voting on whether or not the punishment fit the crime, NOT on the severity of the case itself. If you feel the sentence was very weak, you would vote 1 star. If you feel the sentence was very strong, you would vote 5 stars.
Please vote honestly and realistically. These ratings will be used a a tool for many future programs, including a "Peoples Choice" of best and worst sentencing, DA and judge "report cards", and more. Try to resist the temptation to vote 1 star on every case, even if you feel that 100 years in prison isnt enough.
Case #16184 Rating: 1.0 out of 5
5 month old puppy repeatedly punched in face Sioux City, IA (US)Incident Date: Thursday, Jun 18, 2009 County: Woodbury
Disposition: Convicted
Defendant/Suspect: Bobby Loggins
A judge has found Bobby Loggins of Sioux City guilty of Animal Torture in the June 2009 death of his American Bulldog named "Sire."
A witness testified at Loggins' December 2009 trial that Loggins repeatedly punched the dog in the face, taking it "way too far."
In the decision, the judge ruled Loggins' actions were "depraved and sadistic," concluding Loggins' held Sire with his bare hands while beating it.
The case drew outrage from Siouxland Animal Activists. Hope Cameron was so moved by Sire's story she attended the trial in Woodbury County. "And you hear the witness against him, telling the story. It made me sick. Disgusted, frustrated," she said Wednesday.
Cindy Rarrat with Sioux City Animal Control applauded the conviction. "The courts made the appropriate decision in this case. We're very happy to see that justice was served and we'll just have to see what the penalties phase holds for this suspect," she said.
Sentencing is scheduled for February 12th, 2010. Loggins faces up to two years in prison. References |
