Dog neglect case to be re-tried as misdemeanors Pleasant Hope, MO (US)Incident Date: Sunday, Feb 1, 2009 County: Greene
Charges: Misdemeanor Disposition: Alleged
Alleged: » Rebecca Cruse » Carold Cruse
A northern Greene County couple whose felony animal abuse charges were dismissed recently are scheduled to return to court in February 2010 to respond to misdemeanor charges filed on January 21, 2010.
Carold and Rebecca Cruse, who live south of Pleasant Hope on Farm Road 26, are scheduled to be arraigned on Feb. 23 on 93 misdemeanor charges each related to a February 2009 raid on their property in which 93 Yorkshire terriers were seized by deputies and representatives of the Humane Society of Missouri.
Although felony charges were dropped in December 2009, when Circuit Judge Dan Imhof ruled the felony charges against the couple could not be justified, the Greene County Prosecutor’s office filed misdemeanor charges Thursday.
Imhof has been assigned the case, court records indicate. The seized animals were taken to St. Louis for rehabilitation, and eventually were adopted. References« MO State Animal Cruelty Map « More cases in Greene County, MO
