A Riverside man could be facing animal cruelty charges for the alleged mistreatment of nearly two dozen animals that had living on his property, it was reported Saturday.
Riverside County animal control officers took more than 20 animals into custody from a home in the 22200 block of Kinney Street, according to PE.com, the Web site of the Riverside Press-Enterprise.
Officers had planned to confiscate the animals, but owner Wilson Rojas decided to sign over ownership to Animal Services, according to PE.com.
Riverside County animal control officers impounded eight horses, 10 pigs, three dogs, a goat, a chicken and a red-beaked parrot, John Welsh, a spokesman for the county's Animal Services Department, told PE.com.
Welsh said four of the horses could be considered emaciated and officers found three dead pigs. The department will conduct tests to determine how they died, the PE.com reported.
The department will request that the district attorney's office prosecute Rojas for animal cruelty, Welsh told PE.com.
Rojas has not been arrested, according to PE.com. References« CA State Animal Cruelty Map « More cases in Riverside County, CA
