County: Oklahoma

Charges: Felony CTA
Disposition: Alleged

Alleged: Nikolas Kerr

While an Edmond woman slept in her apartment, an acquaintance of her roommates allegedly threw her kitten against the apartment wall, breaking its leg, and burned its face and head with a cigarette lighter, Edmond Police said Friday.

Edmond Police Detective Aaron Randall states in a probable cause affidavit filed in Oklahoma County District Court that 19-year-old Nikolas Kerr allegedly swung the 2-month-old kitten by its tail against the wall at least two times on Sept. 29 at an apartment in the 13000 block of Silver Eagle Trail. The victim’s roommate then told police that she saw the suspect hit the kitten against the couch about 12 times, the affidavit states.

The roommate asked the suspect why he was doing this and, according to the affidavit, his response was “cause I’m a sociopath.”

Later, the victim found her kitten underneath her bed covered in its own feces and in a vegetable-like state, the affidavit states. The kitten’s facial hair and whiskers on the left side of its face appeared to have been burned. The kitten was taken to Memorial Road Pet Hospital and was later euthanized that same day, the court document states.

“This is a disgusting and horrendous case of animal cruelty,” said Glynda Chu, Edmond Police spokeswoman.

Edmond Police served Kerr with a felony arrest warrant Nov. 4 at his Edmond residence. Kerr was arrested on an animal cruelty complaint, an Edmond Police report by Officer Rickey Ecker states.
