Police are investigating the shooting of a 10-year-old Terrier mix named Toby.
Toby's owners let him out into their backyard in the 900 block of Gammon Trail around 4:30 p.m. Monday. When they called him back in around 5:30, he wasn't acting normal, according to a news release from the Chesapeake Police Department. The owners then discovered a small wound on his chest.
They took Toby to a veterinarian, who discovered a BB pellet next to the dog's heart. The dog so far has survived but the pellet cannot be removed.
