Richard Nelson, age 40, of 2436 Fourth St. NE, Canton, Ohio was arrested when he tried to run, after being stopped for speeding and driving a truck with a stolen license plate.

A six-year-old German Shepherd Police dog named Bear apprehended Nelson. Nelson struck the dog on the head and bit him on the nose. Bear lost a tooth while he had a hold on Nelson's arm. Officer Steve Swank was also injured when Nelson resisted arrest.

Nelson was charged with resisting arrest, receiving stolen property, assaulting an officer, striking a police dog and several misdemeanors.
