Pima County authorities want to find those responsible for shooting an arrow into a dog.

Pima County Sheriff's Department spokeswoman Dawn Barkman said the female chocolate lab was wounded in the side with the arrow and had duct tape around her mouth.

A woman called 911 Sunday to report seeing the dog in a neighborhood near South Kinney Road and West Ajo Highway.

The dog has been turned over to animal care and control.

The sheriff's office said it's looking for the dog's owner and the person who injured her.

Case Updates

A dog found shot by an arrow has a new home. The chocolate Labrador was found in August in the vicinity of Kinney Road and Ajo Highway. The Pima Animal Care Center nursed her back to recovery, and today she went up for adoption, and lots of people wanted her.

Kevin Fielding says, "I've been following the story on that dog, and I just really think we could give it a great home."

Dianna Wahl says, "We saw her on the news the other day and my husband and I looked at each other and instantaneously said she is so beautiful."

Jason Sharp says, "I think that this dog would fit great with my other two Labs in a healthy, loving home."

So many people came to Pima Animal Care Center hoping to adopt her; the center shook tickets in a coffee can and held a drawing.

Jackie Sirak screamed and cried when her number was called. She says, "I never expected to get a dog with all these people. I can't believe it."

Jackie says she's spent her life saving injured dogs.

She says, "I'm just so happy I can't tell you. She's going to be loved. As long as she lives, she will be deeply loved."

Jackie says her daughter had a dream that the family would get another dog named Maddy. So Maddy is this dog's new name. And, if her wagging tail is any indication, she seems to like it.
