Toronto police are looking for witnesses after a male cat was shot with a crossbow arrow.

The tabby brown domestic cat was found at around 9:45 p.m. in the Highway 427 and Rexdale Boulevard area.

Police and animal welfare officials were called to the scene and authorities transported the cat to a local veterinary hospital with what they deemed as life-threatening injuries.

Authorities say the arrow was still in the cat when he was found. It is described as being green and 18 inches in length.

Anyone with information is being asked to call detectives at 23 Division at 416-808-2300 or to Crime Stoppers anonymously at 416-222-TIPS.
