The discovery of dead and dying dogs at an abandoned gas station in McNeill has prompted a Pearl River County supervisor to promise to see how the county can put more bite into its laws against animal cruelty.
Supervisor Sandy Kane Smith says it took all day just to get a warrant so the one surviving pit bull could be removed from the property.
The station's owner, Alicia Goynes, has been charged with six counts of animal cruelty. She has said she was on vacation and left the dogs in another woman's care. She has not identified that woman. References « More cases in Pearl River County, MS
