Dog shot Logan Township, PA (US)Incident Date: Saturday, May 23, 2009 County: Blair
Disposition: Not Charged
Person of Interest: Kenneth Brantner, Sr.
Logan Township Police are investigating a case of animal cruelty.
It started out like any other Saturday morning for Denny McConnel and his fiancé. They got up and Denny let his dog Emmit outside. That is when Denny heard what sounded like two gun shots. He said he looked over and saw their neighbor shooting at Emmit.
"I heard the guy yell for him and heard a gun shot. I see and look and he's doing circles then another gun shot goes off. I ran to go get him and brought him back," said McConnell.
The family does have two other dogs. They were inside at the time and are OK. The couple moved into their home off of Weaver Avenue two weeks ago. They said that they don't even know their neighbor's name and can't figure out why he would shoot their dog.
"He said he was attacking him. I watched it I could see he wasn't attacking him. If you shot the gun in the air that dog would have ran away and he shot him twice," said McConnell.
"There was so much blood I could tell he was going into shock because he was breathing really fast and heavy. I was just hoping they'd get him to the vet in time and wouldn't die," said Denny's mom Beth Eyer.
Logan Township Police are investigating. At this point no charges have been filed. WTAJ News spoke to next door neighbor Kenneth Brantner Senior, the man who allegedly shot the dog. He said he is 'sorry' and wishes he could take it (the shooting) back.
Emmitt is scheduled for surgery first thing Monday morning to help repair his leg. References« Back to Search Results « PA State Animal Cruelty Map « More cases in Blair County, PA
