Bail was set today at $100,000 for a Richton Park man suspected of illegally selling dogs out of his home.
Curtez L. Jackson, 40, was arrested Thursday by the Cook County Sheriff's Police Animal Crimes Unit, police said.
He was charged with felony unlawful use of a weapon, felony possession of a gun by a convicted felon and five counts of possession of a certain breed of dog by a felon, police said.
Recovered in a search of his home were a 9 mm revolver, four pit bulls and a mastiff, police said.
"The mastiff was rather aggressive, but physically, they looked good," Cook County sheriff's spokeswoman Lisa Gordon said. "They were kept in cages. (It) appeared that he was trying to sell them. They weren't beat up or chewed on." References « More cases in Cook County, IL
