more information on voting
When you vote, you are voting on whether or not the punishment fit the crime, NOT on the severity of the case itself. If you feel the sentence was very weak, you would vote 1 star. If you feel the sentence was very strong, you would vote 5 stars.
Please vote honestly and realistically. These ratings will be used a a tool for many future programs, including a "Peoples Choice" of best and worst sentencing, DA and judge "report cards", and more. Try to resist the temptation to vote 1 star on every case, even if you feel that 100 years in prison isnt enough.

Fifteen miniature horses seized Mcminniville, OR (US)Incident Date: Tuesday, Apr 7, 2009 County: Yamhill

It's one of the worst cases of horse Neglect sheriffs deputies have ever seen. 15 miniature horses have been seized from their owner in Yamhill County on charges of abuse and neglect.
Captain Ken Summers, with the sheriff's office, said the horses were found in an area too small for them. They were covered in sores, manure, their hooves curling back and overgrown to the point of almost touching the animals shins.
"Just incredible malnourishment malnutrition and neglect of their grooming. I have never seen a horse where the (lack of) care and neglect had gone this far," Captain Summers said.
The owner of the horses, 39-year-old Lisa Tadic, was arrested on several charges of animal abuse and animal neglect.
The horses were taken to a rehabilitation center so vets can get a look at them and hopefully help them recover. Captain Summers said he really wants the public to realize if you find you can't afford to care for your animals now, for whatever reason, there is help out there but never let a situation get this bad.
Case UpdatesA 39-year-old Lafayette woman has been sentenced to probation and community service after pleading guilty to animal abuse for neglecting 15 miniature horses.
Lisa Tadic told a judge that taking care of her mother after her stroke was her top priority, not the horses.
But Yamhill County Circuit Judge John Collins told Tadic that was no excuse.
The Yamhill County sheriff's office found the horses living in filth at a barn on property Tadic owns with her mother. The small horses' hooves had grown over to the point that they curled -- a painful condition making it difficult to stand or walk.
Deputies said none of the horses had been seen by a veterinarian in at least seven years. All have since recovered and most have been adopted. | Source: Oregon Live - June 6, 2009 Update posted on Jun 6, 2009 - 9:45PM |
