Officials in Hillsdale County, Michigan seized more than a total of 16 malnourished horses late last week. Ten of the animals were found at a Pittsford Township farm. Another six were seized from a farm in Jefferson Township. Authorities say the horses looked like they were starved to death.

Now, Glenn Edward Davis Jr., 44, and Penny Whitehouse, 50, face misdemeanor charges of animal cruelty causing death.

A Gibson County woman doing battle with county animal control landed in jail on unrelated charges. Deputies say Penny Whitehouse of Francisco is wanted on a felony warrant in Michigan. She is charged with kidnapping and custodial interference. Animal control officers arrived at Whitehouse's farm last week where they took several of her horses. Whitehouse says her horses were sick when she got them and she was nursing them back to health. Animal control disagrees. Officers have said very little about this latest investigation. Deputies say they learned of the Michigan warrants while investigating the animal neglect case.

The Gibson County Animal Services said it is following up on several complaints made about conditions at the Wild West Ranch near Fransisco. Officials said they cannot comment on the on-going investigation.
Danny and Penny Whitehouse operate the ranch. Penny said the couple does not ask for donations and they try to take care of animals in need at their own expense. The couple has been running the ranch for about two months.
Gibson County confiscated 8 horses due to poor health. Penny said she will fight to get the horses back.
