Suspect(s) Unknown - We need your help!

Robbers broke into a West Exchange Street apartment, demanded money and shot the residents' dog.

Akron Police Lt. Rick Edwards said officers are looking for two men who kicked in the door of the apartment of Jeffrey Heffernan and Brandon Richards about 6 a.m. Tuesday, held the residents at gunpoint, and shot their 9-month-old German shepherd, Bella.

Heffernan told police the men put a 9 mm handgun to his head and kept shouting, "Where is the money?"

Heffernan's roommate, Richards, heard the noise and came out of his bedroom. One of the robbers turned his gun on Richards.

The residents' dog approached the robbers. One of them shot and killed the dog.

After the shooting, the robbers left.
