Dog dragged down street with tail in car door
Mascot, NSW (AU)

Incident Date: Monday, Apr 27, 2009

Disposition: Not Charged

Abuser names unreleased

A man could be charged with animal cruelty, after a dog was dragged 20 to 30 metres down a Mascot road by a van.

The tail of the malnourished dog was allegedly slammed into the side door of his owner's Toyota Lite-Ace van before he took off down McBurney Drive.

The yelps of pain, prompted concerned neighbours to call police.

When officers arrived they found the animal with grazes on its mouth, face, rear legs and tail, with its ribs easily visible.

It's now in the care of the RSPCA to be looked over by a vet.

Police say they're waiting on a full report before taking action against the 64-year-old owner, who could be charged with animal cruelty.
