Charges are expected to be filed Monday against a Granite City woman.

The woman was arrested overnight following a four-hour standoff with police.

Officers were called to the 1600 block of Maple in Granite City for a domestic situation shortly before 4 a.m. Saturday morning.

Police say the woman shot her dog during an argument with her boyfriend. Officers attempted to make contact with the woman, but were unable to communicate with her.

Tactical units were brought in and at 7:30 a.m. she surrendered without incident. The injured dog was turned over to animal control.
