An apparently malnourished horse was taken into custody by the Sumter Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals on Friday, a report said.
Deputies responded to a home in the 5600 block of Dubose Siding Road in reference to a horse in a fenced area that appeared to have no food or water and was visibly skinny.
A dog also appeared to have no food or water, the report said, but the horse was in worse condition. Deputies contacted the owner, who was in Sumter-Lee Regional Detention Center, and he signed a release to allow the SPCA to take custody. References |
