Five dogs were rescued from a west-end home, Friday, in a disturbing case of animal abuse.
The Toronto Humane Society found the dogs in a pitch black shed with no ventilation, and two bigger dogs were wearing shock collars so tight they could barely breathe.
"There were some puppies that were housed in and amongst the birds in their own feces and urine and they were soaked in it, and they were also housed with dangerous and toxic chemicals," said Tre Smith, an animal cruelty investigator.
The floor was apparently covered in their own feces and urine.
"[The owner] was unaware that what he was doing was not only against the law, but cruel and unusual punishment and neglect for animals," Smith said.
The owner was fined, and Smith wants to lay provincial charges. References |
