A northwest Iowa woman was arrested on multiple charges after police allegedly discovered a dead horse and illegal firearm at a farm in Rembrandt, Iowa.

According to court documents, Michelle Connors, 30, is scheduled to appear Tuesday [March 31, 2009] morning in a Storm Lake courtroom on two misdemeanor charges of animal cruelty and one felony charge of unauthorized possession of an offensive weapon.

The Buena Vista County Sheriff's Office said in a statement that Connors was arrested after deputies found a dead horse and one in bad medical condition on March 17 while executing a search warrant at the Rembrandt farm.

They also allegedly found a shotgun that "had an illegal length."

Deputies took the surviving horse into custody so a veterinarian could address its alleged medical issues.
