Dog shot in own yard, survives
Summerfield, FL (US)

Incident Date: Wednesday, Mar 4, 2009
County: Marion

Disposition: Alleged

Alleged: Michael St. Louis

A Summerfield man was arrested after shooting his neighbor's dog in the head, authorities said Friday.

Michael St. Louis, 51, was charged with animal cruelty and armed trespassing and was held at the Marion County Jail with bail set at $5,000.

Wednesday, St. Louis contacted deputies and said he shot his neighbor's dog when it attacked him in his yard.

Deputies and animal-control officers discovered the dog was shot in its own yard, sheriff's spokeswoman Jenifer Fisher said. When confronted Thursday, St. Louis admitted he shot the dog in its own yard. The dog has been reunited with its owner.
