more information on voting
When you vote, you are voting on whether or not the punishment fit the crime, NOT on the severity of the case itself. If you feel the sentence was very weak, you would vote 1 star. If you feel the sentence was very strong, you would vote 5 stars.
Please vote honestly and realistically. These ratings will be used a a tool for many future programs, including a "Peoples Choice" of best and worst sentencing, DA and judge "report cards", and more. Try to resist the temptation to vote 1 star on every case, even if you feel that 100 years in prison isnt enough.

Horse neglect - 7 seized Sheridan, OR (US)Incident Date: Friday, Feb 27, 2009 County: Yamhill
Charges: Misdemeanor Disposition: Convicted
Defendants/Suspects: » Kimberly Rice » James Moore
Case Updates: 1 update(s) available
Yamhill County sheriff's deputies have seized seven malnourished horses north of Sheridan, leading to misdemeanor animal neglect charges against a couple.
Capt. Ken Summers said the department acted on a tip this week and cited 42-year-old James Moore and 40-year-old Kimberly Rice.
Summers says horses are expensive to keep and such abuse has become more common as the recession squeezes horse owners.
The horses were taken to John and Jamie Cheslocks' Yamhill County Horse-Animal Rescue Team.
Some of the horses were described as extremely emaciated.
Summers says the sheriff's office will seek forfeiture of the horses unless the owners can develop a convincing remedial care plan.
Case UpdatesA Sheridan woman was set to be sentenced Thursday after a judge found her guilty on six counts of animal neglect.
A neighbor called authorities about several horses on Kimberly Rice's property in February 2009. Investigators found that Rice had not checked on the animals for about six weeks and they suffered malnutrition.
Rice's husband, James Moore, pleaded guilty to four counts of animal neglect in June 2009. He was sentenced to 20 days in jail and two years probation, was barred from keeping any animals for two years and ordered to pay about $4,000 in restitution to the Yamhill County Horse Animal Rescue Team. | Source: KPTV - Oct 19, 2010 Update posted on Oct 20, 2010 - 2:04AM |
