2 neglected dogs taken to animal hospital Wall, NJ (US)Incident Date: Sunday, Feb 1, 2009 County: Monmouth
Charges: Misdemeanor Disposition: Alleged
Alleged: Frank R. Bongarzone
A 46-year-old Marconi Road man was charged with animal cruelty to two dogs that had to be taken to the Red Bank animal hospital, said Victor "Buddy" Amato, the police chief of the Monmouth County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
A 5-year-old cockapoo and a 9-year-old collie were taken to the animal hospital after Amato was called in to investigate at the request of township Patrolman Todd Czech and the Associated Humane Societies.
When Amato went to the Marconi Road home of Frank R. Bongarzone, he found the collie was emaciated and the cockapoo, "you couldn't tell the head from the tail. It could hardly walk," Amato said. "The cockapoo will have to be sheered."
Amato said he developed information on where Bongarzone was staying by questioning people and learned that he was at an address on Shafto Road in Tinton Falls. Amato was pulling into the driveway of the Tinton Falls address, and Bongarzone was in his car getting ready to pull out.
After determining the man was Bongarzone, Amato informed him that they needed to have a conversation, which was done at the Wall Police Department, Amato said.
Amato charged Bongarzone with two counts of animal cruelty, he said. Bongarzone is scheduled to be in the Wall Municipal Court on March 3. References« NJ State Animal Cruelty Map « More cases in Monmouth County, NJ
