A dog shot repeatedly and left for dead in Allendale has recovered from his injuries.
Harrison was found on August 23rd, 2008 after a tipster called authorities about a rabid dog. When they arrived, investigators realized the dog had been shot several times. It was estimated the dog was shot 2 to 3 days earlier.
Harrison was taken to the Harbor Humane Society and was determined to have been shot in the head and side at close range. Harrison suffered severe injuries to the mouth, tongue and throat.
The dog went through several surgeries and was nursed back to health by volunteer Sue Buist of Holland. She officially adopted the dog on February 1st, 2009.
The Harbor Humane Society released a press release with the following statement: "Harrison's story is truly one of success. For some unfathomable reason, Harrison was tortured and cast off by his previous owners and now through the loving care of many, Harrison is healed, safe and loved."
