A warrant is being sought for Elizabeth Walters, 27, 3031 Springland Ave., on a charge of animal cruelty, according to a police report.
While writing a ticket at 8:30 a.m. Saturday for a 1983 Chevrolet Suburban buried in snow, police reported finding a dog inside. The Suburban was not heated and had no water or food for the dog, described as a gray and black pit bull mix. The outside temperature was 18 degrees.
Police reported the dog had defecated in the vehicle and had been chewing the seats.
Bruce Wren, of Michigan City animal control, removed the dog. Police followed an extension cord from the vehicle to the front door of a house in the 200 block of Helen Street.
The homeowner said the owner of the vehicle didn't live there and was out of town. References « More cases in La Porte County, IN
