Three Robeson County men were arrested on animal cruelty charges after sheriff's deputies stopped a dog fight earlier this week.

Derek Fields, 29, of the 13100 block of N.C. 130 in Fairmont, was charged Tuesday with felony dog fighting. Bail for each was set at $5,000.
Lawmen received a call Monday about 8:50 p.m. about dog fighting going on at a barn on Summer Lane off Alamac Road. When deputies arrived, several people ran out of the barn where the dog fights were occurring, according to a Sheriff's Office report.
Two severely injured dogs were seized.

Note: Classifications and other fields should not be used to determine what specific charges the suspect is facing or was convicted of - they are for research and statistical purposes only. The case report and subsequent updates outline the specific charges. Charges referenced in the original case report may be modified throughout the course of the investigation or trial, so case updates, when available, should always be considered the most accurate reflection of charges.
