County: Doddridge

Disposition: Alleged

Alleged: Jessica Pratt

Case Updates: 1 update(s) available

Doddridge County Sheriff's Deputies arrested a woman Tuesday for arson.

Deputies say Jessica Pratt started a fire at a mobile home on Smithton Road at around 3:00 a.m as a result of a domestic incident.

Assistant State Fire Marshal Mackey Ayersman says the fire started with some clothes in the master bedroom closet, then spread to the ceiling and roof area. He says the home, with an estimated $30,000 worth of damage, is a total loss.

Pratt is also charged with domestic battery, domestic assault, and cruelty to animals.

She is currently out of jail, after posting her $53,500 bond.

Both the Smithburg and West Union Volunteer Fire Departments responded to the call.

Case Updates

The Doddridge County grand jury has indicted a West Union woman on charges of first degree arson and cruelty to animals.

The grand jury returned those indictments against Jessica Pratt during its February term.

Last December, during a domestic dispute, Pratt set a fire at a mobile home on Smithton Road, between West Union and Smithburg, sheriff's deputies say.

There were pets in the home at the time of the fire.

The home was declared a total loss by the state fire marshal.
