more information on voting
When you vote, you are voting on whether or not the punishment fit the crime, NOT on the severity of the case itself. If you feel the sentence was very weak, you would vote 1 star. If you feel the sentence was very strong, you would vote 5 stars.
Please vote honestly and realistically. These ratings will be used a a tool for many future programs, including a "Peoples Choice" of best and worst sentencing, DA and judge "report cards", and more. Try to resist the temptation to vote 1 star on every case, even if you feel that 100 years in prison isnt enough.

Disposition: Convicted
Defendant/Suspect: Paul Richard Chamberlain
Case Updates: 1 update(s) available
A 59-year-old Grass Patch farmer will face court today [Feb 10, 2009] charged with cruelly treating 1750 livestock.
The RSPCA first inspected the farmer's property near Esperance on June 20 and allegedly found approximately 1600 sheep and 50 cattle without sufficient food and water.
Inspectors found a further 100 dead sheep and had to euthanise another 80.
The RSPCA has alleged the animals suffered unnecessary harm and that the farmer had forfeited his right to own livestock under the Animal Welfare Act.
The man is due to face Esperance Magistrate's Court this morning.
Case UpdatesA 60-year-old Esperance farmer has been fined $25,000 and banned from owning sheep and cattle for ten years.
Paul Richard Chamberlain pleaded guilty to failing to provide sufficient food to livestock on his Grass Patch property.
More than five hundred dead sheep were discovered on the property in June last year.
The RSPCA is seeking damages of $12,000 and is pushing for a further ban preventing Chamberlain from living on any property with livestock.
RSPCA spokesman Richard Barry says it was the worst case of neglect he had seen in Western Australia.
The Association says Chamberlain sold the farm late last year. | Source: ABC Australia - Feb 16, 2009 Update posted on Feb 16, 2009 - 2:08PM |
