Chained pit bull suffering from skin infections
Suffolk, VA (US)

Incident Date: Friday, Feb 6, 2009
County: Suffolk City

Charges: Misdemeanor
Disposition: Alleged

Alleged: Trevell Dimitrius Bryant

Suffolk Police arrested 24-year-old Trevell Dimitrius Bryant on Friday and charged him with Cruelty to Animals.

Bryant's arrest stems from secured warrants the animal rights group PETA had out against him for not providing proper care to his pit bull.

PETA spokesperson Daphna Nachminovitch tells WAVY.com the chained pit bull was suffering from a skin infection as well as a mite infestation. Nachminovitch says these illnesses are generally a sign of poor nutrition and stressful living conditions.

Nachminovitch says the dog's feet were cracked, swollen and infected.
