more information on voting
When you vote, you are voting on whether or not the punishment fit the crime, NOT on the severity of the case itself. If you feel the sentence was very weak, you would vote 1 star. If you feel the sentence was very strong, you would vote 5 stars.
Please vote honestly and realistically. These ratings will be used a a tool for many future programs, including a "Peoples Choice" of best and worst sentencing, DA and judge "report cards", and more. Try to resist the temptation to vote 1 star on every case, even if you feel that 100 years in prison isnt enough.

Dog starved to death Neptune, NJ (US)Incident Date: Monday, Dec 22, 2008 County: Monmouth
Charges: Misdemeanor Disposition: Convicted
Defendants/Suspects: » Johnnie Holmes, Jr. » Latonya Richardson
Two Neptune residents were fined and ordered to perform community service for failing to provide food and water to a dog that starved to death, officials said.
Johnnie Holmes Jr., 77, and his neighbor, Latonya Richardson, 38, both previously pleaded guilty to the animal cruelty charge.
On Thursday, municipal court Judge Robin T. Wernik sentenced the Heck Avenue residents to 10 days of community service, said Victor "Buddy' Amato, the police chief of the Monmouth County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
Holmes was also ordered to pay a $750 fine while Richardson must pay a $500 fine, said Amato.
He said the pit bull was in a pen on Holmes' property, but the pen belonged to Richardson. Each claimed they believed the dog belonged to the other, said Amato. The dog starved to death in December, he said.
SPCA Sgt. Matthew Giuliano handled the case with Amato. References« NJ State Animal Cruelty Map « More cases in Monmouth County, NJ
