A Greensboro woman has been charged with animal cruelty after police said she threw a puppy from a second story apartment window.

Police said they responded to the Heritage House on West Meadowview Road on Sunday afternoon after receiving a report of animal cruelty.

A 911 caller reported that the dog had been tossed from an upstairs apartment into a courtyard below.

Emily Wiggins was arrested and charged with animal abuse and possession of marijuana.

Animal Control officers responded to the scene and took custody of the puppy.
