more information on voting
When you vote, you are voting on whether or not the punishment fit the crime, NOT on the severity of the case itself. If you feel the sentence was very weak, you would vote 1 star. If you feel the sentence was very strong, you would vote 5 stars.
Please vote honestly and realistically. These ratings will be used a a tool for many future programs, including a "Peoples Choice" of best and worst sentencing, DA and judge "report cards", and more. Try to resist the temptation to vote 1 star on every case, even if you feel that 100 years in prison isnt enough.

Dog thrown off balcony, killed Saint Paul, MN (US)Incident Date: Friday, Aug 1, 2008 County: Ramsey
Charges: Misdemeanor Disposition: Convicted
Defendant/Suspect: Donald Dornseif
A St. Paul man was sentenced to probation Thursday for throwing his ex-girlfriend's 60-pound bulldog off of a balcony to its death in August 2008.
Police said 43-year-old Donnie Dornseif was drunk when he let himself into his ex-girlfriend's apartment, and killed the animal in front of his six-year-old daughter.
A judge sentenced Dornseif to 15-months in prison, but she stayed that sentence. Instead, Dornseif will go on probation and serve 300 hours of community service.
Prosecutors said they would have preferred jail time.
"Given the court's response, many hours of community service, probation. But if this guy offends again, he can go to prison for 15 months. It's something we can live with," said Ramsey County District Attorney Susan Gaertner.
Dornseif told 5 EYEWITNES NEWS he feels awful about what happened, and he's been sober for 107 days.
He is continuing alcohol and drug treatment at Regions Hospital. References « More cases in Ramsey County, MN
