The SPCA for Monterey County is offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person who abandoned a dachshund in Marina.
Abandoning an animal is punishable as a misdemeanor under state law.
The dachshund was dumped at the end of Bayonet Court off Abrams Drive about 10 a.m. Monday by a female driving a burgundy sport-utility vehicle, the SPCA said.
The dachshund, named "Annie" by SPCA staff members, is 8 to 10 years old and is now safe, the SPCA said.
