When you vote, you are voting on whether or not the punishment fit the crime, NOT on the severity of the case itself. If you feel the sentence was very weak, you would vote 1 star. If you feel the sentence was very strong, you would vote 5 stars.
Please vote honestly and realistically. These ratings will be used a a tool for many future programs, including a "Peoples Choice" of best and worst sentencing, DA and judge "report cards", and more. Try to resist the temptation to vote 1 star on every case, even if you feel that 100 years in prison isnt enough.

Defendant/Suspect: Aaron E. Goodrich
Case Updates: 1 update(s) available
Gibson County Animal Services Director Brenda Foley made an urgent appeal for pet owners to give their animals shelter and warmth during cold winter weather after a Beagle pup froze to death sometime Thursday morning.
Foley said her agency received a call from a neighbor Thursday, reporting the dog, less than a year old, barked all night. They discovered the dead animal chained without shelter on property in the 500 block of South Seminary in Princeton.
"People need to know they shouldn't wait in this weather if they hear an animal in distress. We will respond in these temperatures," she said Thursday afternoon.
Animal advocates advise bringing animals indoors when possible, or at the very least, providing shelter and warm bedding in severe temperatures.
Foley said she intends to ask the Gibson County Prosecutor's office to pursue misdemeanor animal neglect or abandonment charges.
Case UpdatesA 43-year-old Princeton man whose puppy froze to death when it was left outside in bitterly cold weather has been sentenced to probation and community service, officials announced today.
As part of a plea agreement, Aaron E. Goodrich, 43, received one year of probation and 40 hours of volunteer work with Gibson County Animal Services. Goodrich pleaded guilty to neglect of an animal, a class B misdemeanor.
The charge stemmed from the Jan. 15 death of Goodrich's beagle puppy. The dog had been left outside in weather that stayed below 10 degrees.
Authorities in Princeton later determined that Goodrich had brought another dog inside but still left the puppy chained outside where it was unable to reach shelter.
"Goodrich said he knew there were warnings out about the dangers of pets being left outside due to the extremely cold weather, but that his landlord didn't want pets in the house so he chose to leave one of the dogs outside," officials with the Gibson County prosecutor's office wrote in a news release.
Prosecutor Robert Krieg said in the release he insisted on the community service with animal services as part of the plea agreement and that he is "hopeful Goodrich will find his experience at the shelter to be very rewarding." | Source: Courier Press - April 7, 2008 Update posted on Apr 8, 2009 - 8:59AM |
