Scott W. Edwards, age 34 was charged with felony arson and arrested for a fire that destroyed his mobile home at 3 Plainfield Lane, Nashua, NH. Two cats died in the fire, a third cat was rescued and sent to the Humane Society for Greater Nashua. Edwards was being held on $15,000 bail. He faces up to seven years in state prison for the arson charge.

He was indicted on a single arson charge in Hillsborough County Superior Court. The charge alleges that Edwards set fire to his home hoping to collect insurance for the fire. The charge carries a maximum sentence of 3 1/2 to 7 years in prison. He never filed an insurance claim and is not charged with insurance fraud or cruelty to the animals.

The third cat was rescued by Nashua's Animal Control Officer after being found weeks later at the site. The cat, who the Humane Society for Greater Nashua renamed Cinge had burnt paws and fur and was suffering from smoke inhalation. The cat has since been adopted.
