Two dogs nelected, one found dead Lacon, IL (US)Incident Date: Wednesday, Jan 7, 2009 County: Marshall
Charges: Misdemeanor Disposition: Alleged
Alleged: Nicholas D. Darlington
Charged with the Class A misdemeanor by State's Attorney Paul Bauer was Nicholas D. Darlington, 28, of 413 8th St. in Lacon.
Darlington was charged after Lacon police found a dead spaniel mix frozen to the ground last week in a kennel that also held an underfed larger dog described as a boxer. The spaniel appeared to have been dead about two weeks, Lacon Police Chief Troi Palm estimated in his report.
When Sherri Coghill, director of The ARK animal shelter in Lacon, was contacted about the surviving dog early this week, she had no immediate opening in the no-kill shelter, so she offered to come and feed the dog herself until a spot opened up, she said. But the owner's wife told her the landlord of the rental house wanted the dog off the property immediately, and Coghill said she had heard nothing further as of Thursday afternoon.
"I'm not sure where that dog ended up," Coghill said. References « More cases in Marshall County, IL
