An Otisco man is facing felony and misdemeanor counts of animal cruelty after Onondaga County sheriff's deputies said he shot four dogs Friday morning.
Merle White, 52, of 1269 Dutch Hill Road, was charged with four felony counts of aggravated cruelty to animals and four misdemeanor counts of cruelty to animals.
Deputies were sent about 1:15 a.m. to the Dutch Hill Road address on a shots-fired call, deputies said. When they arrived, Nancy Jones, 54, also of 1269 Dutch Hill Road, told deputies that White, her boyfriend, had used her .22-caliber rifle to shoot her four dogs, deputies said.
Two dogs died from their wounds and two were turned over to the SPCA for medical treatment, deputies said. Jones was not injured and deputies took White into custody without incident.
