Animal cruelty was reported in the 10700 block of Red Fox Street, according to a report from the Fairfield County Sheriff's Office.

Between 3 and 3:30 p.m., someone set a cat on fire. The victim attempted to apply first aid to the cat and then rushed it to the veterinary clinic. Attempts to give aid and reduce the animal's pain failed, and the cat had to be euthanized, the report said.

An attempt to lift finger prints on a wine bottle, the fluid used on the cat, was unsuccessful.
