Police are trying to find out who shot a dog in the head while the dog was running in a wooded area Saturday afternoon in Polk Township.

The 85-pound boxer mix was taken to a veterinarian for treatment and is recovering, according to reports. The shooting happened at the Indian Mountain Golf Course near Route 534 and Beltzville Drive.

A woman and her grandson were riding in a golf cart while taking their two dogs for a walk, according to reports. They heard gunshots, after which one of the dogs came running out of the woods with a bullet wound to the head.
