Charges are pending against the owner of what's being called a puppy mill, busted in Meaford.
A cat and about 100 dogs were seized from a home after someone worried about the animals called the Ontario Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
Investigators went into the home on Monday morning, and say the dogs' fur was matted, and the puppies were covered in their own waste.
They also say the team that went into the house had to leave frequently, for fresh air.
The OSPCA says the dogs were all small breeds -- Bichons, Pekingese, Papillons and Lhasa Apso types.
The animals have all been seized and taken to OSPCA facilites around the province, including the one in Newmarket.
The dogs are getting medical care and being cleaned.
Two people from Meaford are facing criminal charges of cruelty to animals.
They could face fines up to 60-thousand dollars, and a lifetime ban on owning pets. References
