A Bend man was arrested Saturday, accused of shooting a roommate's cat several times in the head and face with a BB gun, police said.
The 1 ½-year-old cat, named "Joey," is recovering at the Bend Veterinary Clinic from the wounds and was in stable condition Saturday, said Sgt. Dan Ritchie.
Police were called to the clinic around 9:40 a.m. to investigate suspicious injuries to the cat, Ritchie said.
An investigation connected Kelly to the incident. He was an acquaintance of Joey's owner and lived at that residence at the time of the incident, the sergeant said.
Kelly was lodged in the Deschutes County Jail, facing three counts of first-degree aggravated animal abuse, one count of first-degree animal neglect and three counts of unlawful use of a weapon.
He remained jailed Saturday night on $32,500 bail, a jail officer said. References« OR State Animal Cruelty Map « More cases in Deschutes County, OR
