A man allegedly shooting at a dog on his property accidentally shot his brother, and was arrested for both acts, according to Riverside County sheriff's officials.

Robert Gonzales Jr., 28, of Cherry Valley was jailed on charges of discharging a firearm in a gross and negligent manner, cruelty to an animal, and being a felon in possession of a firearm, according to sheriff's Sgt. Vic Trevino.

Deputies were called about 3:15 p.m. Friday to a hospital in the San Gorgonio Pass about a man with a gunshot wound that was not life-threatening, Trevino said.
