A 17-year-old Ellicott City boy has been charged with using a bow and arrow to kill two geese in Font Hill Park.

Howard County police announced the charges Thursday and said the boy was charged with felony aggravated animal cruelty and various hunting violations. The boy's identity was not released due to his age.

According to police, officers caught the boy Monday night in Font Hill Park holding a bow, multiple arrows and a spotlight. The officers arrested the boy, confiscated the bow and arrows and charged him with carrying a concealed deadly weapon and hunting violation.

On Wednesday, police reportedly received a call from a citizen who reported a dead goose at the park that had been impaled with an arrow. Police found the goose and the arrow and compared the arrow to those confiscated, finding a match.

The boy was arrested Thursday and charged with killing the animals, police said.
