Dog thrown, kicked during domestic dispute
Boynton Beach, FL (US)

Incident Date: Thursday, Oct 23, 2008
County: Palm Beach

Disposition: Alleged

Alleged: Emanuel Manusuthakis

A suburban Boynton Beach man was arrested early Thursday after his girlfriend said he beat her and her dog and shoved a revolver in his own mouth.

Emanuel Manusuthakis, 36, was charged with battery, kidnapping, false imprisonment, animal cruelty and resisting arrest. Circuit Judge Paul Moyle today ordered him held without bond while he undergoes mental evaluation.

According to a police report, about 6:45 a.m. Thursday, Manusuthakis' girlfriend called Palm Beach County deputies to say he had tried to shoot himself and was now leaving their home in a black pickup, still armed.

Arriving deputies passed the truck as it left. They followed it and pulled over Manusuthakis a few blocks away.

As they approached, he was talking on a cellphone and ignored the deputies, who eventually had to force him out and to the ground, a report said.

The girlfriend later told deputies the two had gone to separate night clubs Wednesday night and Manusuthakis returned drunk.

An argument started in the bathroom, where Manusuthakis was showering; he said he suspected her of cheating on him.

The woman grabbed her dog and fled out the front door; Manusuthakis, naked, chased after her.

She said she got into her car, but he reached through her window, got the door open, and dragged her back inside.

She said she got just enough outside to get her dog. He grabbed the dog, threw it, and kicked it.

She said she struck him to defend the animal but he dragged her back into the home.

The girlfriend said that, as Manusuthakis pinned her to the ground, he placed a revolver in his mouth and said he'd kill himself.

He then let the woman go; she ran to a phone and dialed 911.

The woman had a black and blue mark on her arm but declined medical attention, a report said. It did not describe injuries to the dog.
